Pricing & the written flat rate
- $159/hr covers two movers and a truck — blankets, dollies, shrink-wrap, and drive time included.
- $209/hr covers three movers and a truck for the heavier mesa-subdivision loads.
- Long-haul jobs down I-17 to Phoenix or up to Flagstaff run on a binding flat rate written before we load — no fuel surcharge tacked on after the fact.
Licensing & insurance
We carry an Arizona household-goods carrier permit through ADOT, plus US DOT and MC authority for interstate runs. Released-value coverage is included at $0.60/lb, and we’ll write full-value protection up to $1,000,000 cargo coverage per shipment if you ask Marisol in advance.
Jerome switchbacks, monsoon season, and what catches out-of-town movers
If your load-out is up Jerome’s near-vertical streets, we already plan for the hand-carry and the shuttle van before we quote you. And from July through September we stage early and watch the radar — an afternoon dust storm or a flash-flood wash on AZ-89A can shut the pass down fast, so we build the truck board around the morning window instead.
Are you a moving company?
Yes — North Desert Moving is a fully licensed and insured Cottonwood, AZ moving company running our own trucks and uniformed crew, with an Arizona household-goods carrier permit and US DOT and MC authority.
How much does a Cottonwood move actually cost?
Two-mover local jobs run $159/hr including the truck, blankets, dollies, and shrink-wrap. Three-mover jobs run $209/hr. The clock starts when we pull up to your door, not when we leave the yard. Long-haul jobs run on a written flat rate, locked before we load.
Do you offer a binding written quote?
Always. We walk your home in person around Cottonwood and Clarkdale, or by video for the outlying county addresses, and hand you a flat rate in writing before the truck moves. That price doesn't change on moving day unless you add inventory.
How far in advance do I need to book?
Summer months and the snowbird shoulder-season windows fill three to four weeks out. Off-season mid-month jobs we can often book inside of a week. If a monsoon squall threatens the truck board, Grant will text you ahead of time.
Do you handle Sedona and Village of Oak Creek moves?
Constantly. A lot of our calls are families relocating out of Sedona's red-rock real estate market down into Cottonwood or Cornville. We route the household load the longer, truck-friendly way rather than the narrow canyon road.
Can you get a truck up Jerome's switchback streets?
Not always the full-size rig, but Silas plans for that. We stage a shuttle van at the bottom of Cleopatra Hill and hand-carry the load up the switchbacks — routine work for his crew, quoted up front.
What about pianos and gun safes?
Silas's specialty. Uprights, baby grands, and heavy safes through tight adobe-home doorways in Old Town are routine work for our lead crew. There's a flat-rate add-on, written on the estimate up front.
Do you store between move-out and move-in dates?
Yes — climate-controlled short-term storage at our Old Town yard, billed by the week. Handy for closing-date gaps on the mesa subdivisions.
Do you move out of state from Cottonwood?
Yes. We hold US DOT and MC interstate authority, and Reuben's board runs the I-17 corridor and beyond. See the
